We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Laboratory Support Assistant to join our growing laboratory support team at a leading pharmaceutical site in Worthing. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a scientific interest who wants hands-on experience in a highly regulated laboratory environment whilst building a career within life sciences.
Job OverviewAs a Laboratory Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role supporting microbiology and scientific teams by ensuring laboratories are fully stocked, equipment checks are completed, waste streams are managed, media and reagents are prepared, and laboratory operations run smoothly every day.
This is far more than a support role. It is an opportunity to gain valuable experience within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment and develop an understanding of how medicines are researched, developed and manufactured.
Main Duties
You'll be involved in a wide variety of laboratory activities including:
🧪 Preparing laboratory media, buffers, reagents and solutions
📦 Managing laboratory consumables, stock and glassware requirements
⚙️ Conducting routine performance checks on balances, pH meters and laboratory equipment
🔬 Supporting microbiology and laboratory teams with day-to-day operational requirements
♻️ Managing laboratory waste streams and supporting environmental compliance
📋 Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with GMP and Data Integrity requirements
🛠 Coordinating contractor visits, equipment servicing and preventive maintenance activities
✅ Helping ensure laboratories remain inspection-ready, safe and compliant at all times
What we are looking forYou could be a recent college leaver, graduate, laboratory apprentice or someone looking to begin a career in science.
Essential:✔ A-Level, Scottish Higher or equivalent qualification in a scientific subject
✔ Strong organisational and time-management skills
✔ Excellent attention to detail
✔ Good communication and teamwork skills
✔ Ability to follow procedures and work independently
✔ Basic Microsoft Office skills
Bonus Skills (Not Essential):⭐ Previous laboratory experience
⭐ Knowledge of GMP, GxP or pharmaceutical environments
⭐ Understanding of laboratory chemicals and COSHH
⭐ Experience working with stock management systems
