Teacher Active is looking to expand our pool of passionate and reliable SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Mansfield and the surrounding areas.
We work with mainstream schools, SEN provisions and alternative education settings, with regular opportunities for Teaching Assistants experienced in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
Opportunities range from flexible day-to-day supply to short-term cover and longer-term placements, making this an ideal opportunity whether you're looking for flexibility or more consistent work.
As an SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant, you could be providing 1:1 support, working with small groups or supporting pupils within the classroom. You may work with pupils with needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and behaviours that require additional support.
A key part of the role will be building trusting relationships with pupils, supporting emotional regulation, encouraging positive engagement with education and helping children develop their confidence and independence.
The successful SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant will ideally have:
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs
• Experience within a school, SEN provision, alternative provision or similar setting
• Confidence supporting pupils with behaviour that may present challenges
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• The ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils
• An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
• Flexibility and reliability when working across different settings
