Summary
Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyse data quality performance using internal reports, SLAM data, NHS Data Quality Metrics, dashboards, and local validation tools to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Investigate complex data quality issues, providing specialist advice and recommendations to support timely and sustainable corrective actions. Develop, implement, and maintain data quality monitoring and validation processes to improve the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of patient activity data. Lead the governance, audit and sign-off of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions, investigating discrepancies, investigating failed coding outcomes, and supporting the ongoing development of automation logic for outpatient procedure coding. Support the review, validation, and sign-off of new appointment types within iCLIP and associated systems, ensuring appropriate assignment of main specialty, treatment function, tariff classifications, and activity recording. Contribute to pathway redesign programmes and service improvement projects, including the implementation of national Coding and Counting changes, ensuring successful delivery and post-implementation monitoring. Support the development, review, and implementation of Data Quality Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), and workflow documentation. Review and continuously improve existing data collection, validation, and correction processes, implementing value-added changes that enhance efficiency, data quality, and governance. Lead specialist validation initiatives to identify lost, under-reported, or inaccurate income opportunities across Admitted Patient Care (APC), Outpatients (OP), Emergency Care (EC), and other activity streams. Work closely with Income Recovery Coordinators, operational teams, and clinical services to improve documentation standards, data capture processes, and income recovery outcomes. Undertake complex validation reviews, data audits, and investigations to ensure the integrity of patient activity and financial reporting. Ensure all data corrections and amendments comply with NHS Data Standards, national guidance, information governance requirements, and local policies. Collaborate with Finance, Contracting, Clinical Coding, Informatics, Patient Administration, and Operational teams to support the accurate recording, submission, and reimbursement of clinical activity. Support the recovery of commissioner income by proactively identifying emerging data quality issues, assessing financial impact, and implementing preventative controls to address issues at source. Review and monitor monthly SLAM outputs to identify opportunities for service improvement, income optimisation, and risk mitigation, providing financial impact assessments where required. Maintain expert knowledge of NHS data standards, payment mechanisms, commissioning requirements, and Points of Delivery (POD) classifications to provide specialist advice across the organisation. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and collaboration, championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles and supporting team development initiatives. *** Applicants wishing to apply on a secondment basis are asked to obtain agreement in principle from their line manager regarding release before submitting an application.***
