Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Keighley College are recruiting for an Apprentice Teacher of Functional Skills (Maths and English) to join our team.
As an Apprentice Teacher, you will gain on the job experience, whilst also working towards completing your Teaching apprenticeship - on completion you will gain a Level 5 Certificate in Education. The course is provided internally through University Centre Leeds.
You will also receive support from our dedicated Teaching, Learning and Assessment team who share their expertise and guidance on best practice to our teaching colleagues at all levels of their career.
As this is an apprenticeship role, it is fixed term for the length of the apprenticeship - 24 months.
What You Will Do
• Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
• Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
• Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course and track and monitor progress against these.
• Responsible for recording student progress and supporting students to achieve targets.
• Delivery of a minimum of 100 teaching hours over the two-year period.
About You
• We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Teacher who wants to begin or develop a career teaching Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
• You will hold a relevant highest level vocational qualification in teaching subject (at least at L3).
• You will hold English, Maths and ICT at Level 2 (or higher) prior tocommencing training or prior to completion of the apprenticeship.
• You don’t need to be the finished article. What matters is that you are passionate about helping learners overcome barriers, build confidence and develop the essential English and Maths skills they need for work, further study and everyday life.
