Please note this is a permanent positionWorking hours: Minimum 35 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)Interview Date: To be confirmedWe are looking to recruit a committed Christian as our Youth and Student Outreach Worker (Essex). The outreach worker will work to extend the mission of The Salvation Army through outreach and aim to encourage full participation of young people and students through the three integrated ministry essentials of leadership, discipleship and mission. You will develop new and innovative outreach engagement initiatives and programmes with Youth & Students; leading and working as part of a team, mentoring and training local leaders and volunteers and supporting local development of youth ministryThe role will include practitioner-based placements in Essex developing youth and student outreach - as well as include a wider function of inspiring and supporting locally based youthwork in Essex and feeding into the divisional youth programme of events.To be successful you will have:A nationally recognised qualification in youth work or working towards it and/or good experience of working with youth in areas of discipleship and leadership. Applicants with transferable/ relevant skills will be considered.Relevant experience and knowledge of youth and student ministry, including experience of youth participation & experience of mentoring & supporting young people/students & youth leaders.Demonstrable skills in developing youth and community outreach projects.A strong work ethic, with initiative, creativity, drive & attention to detail.Proven ability to be adaptable, flexible, think critically and creatively and work on your own initiative without direct supervision.Awareness of and ability to work within Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies.The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends & occasional residential work.Full Driving Licence and use of your own car.This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a practising Christian.
