About the role
- Support Worker
- Part time - 30 hours per week.
- Colchester, Essex, CO4
This is a rare opportunity to be part of something special from the very beginning. We're opening a brand-new supported living home in Colchester and are looking for a Support Worker to help three young gentlemen move into their very first home of their own. This isn't just about providing support. It's about helping people build confidence, establish routines, make choices and settle into their first home of their own.
The gentlemen you'll be supporting all have their own interests and goals. Two have a real passion for art and creativity, while another is a keen history enthusiast who has even applied for Mastermind. You'll support them to explore these interests, connect with their community groups and achieve the things that matter most to them.
The home itself has been newly renovated and it is located close to the University of Essex and within easy reach of parks, leisure facilities and excellent transport links, including Hythe Station, Colchester North Station and the A12, this is a fantastic base for supporting three young gentlemen to build independent lives and make the most of everything their local community has to offer.
No two days will be the same. You'll be encouraging independence, supporting with daily living skills, assisting with finances, shopping and meals, helping people access hobbies they enjoy and ensuring every person has choice and control over their life. As with all Dimensions homes, you'll focus on recognising what people can do, not what they can't.
About you
You don't need previous experience in social care to join Dimensions. What matters most is that you share our values and have a genuine commitment to helping people live the lives they choose.
You'll be someone who can build positive relationships, communicate clearly and treat people with dignity, respect and compassion. You'll be motivated by supporting people to learn new skills, achieve personal goals and become more independent, recognising and celebrating what people can do for themselves.
We're looking for someone who is adaptable, able to work as part of a team and confident in responding to the changing needs of the people we support. You'll be willing to learn, embrace new experiences and work in partnership with families, colleagues and professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
