The Role
As an Applications Engineer, you will report directly to the Technical Director and become the technical bridge between sales concepts and engineering solutions to help bring clients projects to life. As your knowledge develops, you'll be given increasing responsibility for interpreting enquiries independently and developing complete technical concepts with minimal supervision.
Typical responsibilities will include:
Producing 3D plant layouts and engineering concepts using Solid-Works and other design software prior to manufacture.
Creating visually engaging designs that maximise space efficiency and clearly communicate system operation
Supporting the Sales team through tender submissions and customer proposals
Developing libraries of reusable 3D models and standard equipment layouts
Producing flow diagrams, technical illustrations and visual marketing content
Enhancing customer presentations through animations, walk through's, fly-through and interactive visualisations
Building and maintaining product, machine and customer site databases
Working alongside Engineering and Projects teams to support detailed design activities when required
Contributing to product development, standardisation initiatives and R&D projects
Attending customer sites when required to gather project information and support sales opportunities
Identifying new technologies and innovative design approaches that improve customer engagement and project success
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates are required to have an extensive working knowledge as a design or applications engineer with the following experience and capabilities.
Experience using Solid-Works or similar 3D CAD software
Strong 3D modelling and layout design skills
Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into practical solutions
Experience of crating high quality visual presentations.
Excellent attention to detail
Able to problem solve.
Experience creating technical presentations, layouts or customer facing engineering proposals
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
Confidence managing multiple projects and deadlines
