Salary: £13.55 per hour

Hours: 20 hour contract

Shift Times: 09:00- 14:00

Maintenance Operative to join our team at

Ty Bryngoleu

This is more than a maintenance role. You'll help create a safe, welcoming and dementia-friendly home where residents can live comfortably, families feel reassured, and colleagues have the environment they need to provide outstanding care.

About the Role

Working closely with the Home Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining the home, its grounds and essential systems to the highest standard. Your work will directly support the wellbeing, comfort and safety of our residents, ensuring the home remains a pleasant place to live and work.

You'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance, oversee contractors, complete health and safety checks, and respond promptly to repairs while always considering the needs of residents, particularly those living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs and general upkeep of the home and surrounding grounds.

  • Complete routine inspections, servicing and safety checks, ensuring all records are maintained accurately.

  • Conduct regular testing of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, water temperatures, boilers and other essential systems in line with regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and report maintenance issues promptly, arranging specialist repairs where necessary in conjunction with the Home Manager.

  • Maintain tools, equipment and maintenance stores in a safe and organised manner.

  • Support compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH, fire safety and infection prevention procedures.

  • Be the first point of contact for maintenance requests from colleagues.

  • Assist with staff inductions by supporting fire safety and emergency evacuation training.

  • Participate in emergency call-outs where required.

  • Support residents' outings by driving the home's minibus (where appropriately licensed and required).

About You

You will have:

  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, caretaking or a similar maintenance role.

  • Good practical skills across a range of maintenance disciplines

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.

  • The ability to communicate confidently with residents, relatives, contractors and colleagues.

  • A friendly, approachable and respectful manner.
