Summary

General Operative / Labourer

• Location: Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley

• Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour + holiday pay

• Hours: Monday to Friday | Typically 8:00am - 4:00pm or 9:00am - 5:00pm

• Contract: Temporary ongoing, with potential longer-term opportunity

• Driving Licence: Desirable

• CSCS Card: Desirable, not essential

We are looking for a practical and versatile General Operative / Labourer to support the refurbishment and preparation of a former manufacturing facility ahead of its conversion into a new showroom.

The role will initially involve a varied mix of general labouring, building preparation, refurbishment and assembly work. This would suit someone who is practical, hands-on and comfortable using a range of power tools.

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting with the refurbishment and preparation of the building ahead of showroom opening.

• Carrying out general labouring and site preparation duties.

• Assisting with stripping out and removing old facilities, fixtures and fittings.

• Helping with refitting, alterations and general preparation of the premises.

• Assisting with basic stud wall construction and similar practical tasks.

• Moving, handling and positioning materials, equipment and showroom items.

• Using a range of hand and power tools throughout the role.

• Working to technical diagrams and ensuring accuracy to assemble new items.

• Assembling furniture, displays, products and other showroom items.

• Supporting general warehouse duties when required.

• Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.

• Working alongside other members of the team to complete project and assembly tasks.

• Carrying out additional duties periodically in line with the scope of the role and requirements of the business.

Longer-term opportunity:

The initial focus will be on helping to complete the building refurbishment and showroom preparation. Once this phase is completed, there is scope to discuss a transition into a Warehouse / Assembly Operative position, working as part of a two-person delivery and assembly team. Any longer-term opportunity will be considered based on performance, reliability and attendance during the initial assignment.
