Summary

CNC Miller Programmer / Setter / Operator

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Miller Programmer, Setter and Operator to join an established precision engineering business based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire,

The business specialises in precision machining, fabrication and assembly, manufacturing high-quality components for a diverse range of industries including Energy, Medical, Defence, Rail, Aerospace, Transport and Oil Exploration.

We are looking for an experienced CNC Miller who can confidently programme, set and operate CNC milling machines within a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Key Requirements

  • Strong CNC milling programming experience.

  • Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.

  • Heidenhain control experience.

  • Experience machining medium to large components.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Ability to work to tight tolerances.

  • Competent with micrometers, verniers and other precision measuring equipment.

  • Experience with 3- and 4-axis CNC machines.

  • Knowledge of cutting speeds, feeds and geometric tolerances.

  • CNC machining apprenticeship or 10+ years' relevant experience.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Day-to-Day Duties

    • Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines.

    • Machining complex components from Aluminium, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel and Titanium.

    • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

    • Changing tooling and editing programmes.

    • Inspecting finished components.

    • Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, plug gauges, verniers, screw plugs and ring gauges.

    • Working to tight tolerances and quality standards.

    • Working effectively as part of a skilled engineering team.
