Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed and supportive Children’s Services team within the Women’s and Children’s Division. Our paediatric services provide care for children, young people and families across mid-Nottinghamshire, working with acute, neonatal, community and system partners to deliver safe, responsive and compassionate care.
We are seeking a consultant who shares our values and will bring clinical expertise, leadership and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. The successful candidate will support high-quality general paediatric care, contribute to service development, strengthen patient flow and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
The role also supports development of our paediatric respiratory pathway and we welcome applications from candidates with a specialist interest or experience in paediatric respiratory medicine.
At Sherwood Forest Hospitals, we value kindness, respect and teamwork. We support consultants to develop their interests while contributing to leadership, teaching, governance and quality improvement activities.
This pack provides further details of the role, responsibilities and person specification. We hope it gives a clear sense of the opportunity and the contribution you could make. We welcome applications from candidates who are passionate about general paediatrics, committed to collaborative working and keen to help us continue improving care for our local communities.

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, Sherwood and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically led organisation.
We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for anywhere in the East Midlands for six years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
