Summary

Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking to develop your skills within a fast-paced and rewarding acute environment?

We are seeking an enthusiasticBand 5 Registered Nurseto join our dedicated team onLilac Ward, a busy32-bedded Acute Medical Unit (AMU), on a12-month fixed-term contract/secondment to cover maternity leave.

Lilac Ward provides care for patients presenting with a wide variety of acute medical conditions. As part of the acute patient pathway, we assess, treat and manage patients during the early stages of their hospital journey, making this an exciting and dynamic area in which to work.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse or a nurse seeking to broaden their acute care experience, working alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team committed to delivering outstanding patient-centred care.

This post is open to qualified Registered Nurses with a full registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council and Pre-Registered Nurses due to qualify in 2026.

Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York Teaching Hospital NHS Trust polices and procedures.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.

Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.

Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.

Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.

Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands.

Participate in the audit and evaluation of clinical practices in the interests of promoting quality care. Promote evidence based practice where possible.

Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
