Summary

A kind and patient personal assistant is required for a fit and active 14-year-old boy with autism and ADHD, living in the Helston area.

He experiences some anxiety around new people and places, so anyone supporting him will need to take the time to build a relationship.

The role involves helping him build social confidence and access new activities in the community, including pursuing individual interests and hobbies.

He loves being outdoors and is keen to try activities such as mountain biking, trampolining, and karate. When indoors, he enjoys gaming and particularly enjoys Sonic the Hedgehog.

Other goals include supporting him in developing life skills, such as going to the shops, using public transport, managing money, and understanding appropriate behaviour and social interactions.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and gain greater independence while making a positive impact on his life.

Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour. A travel allowance of 55p per mile is provided for any journeys made while transporting him in your vehicle.

Hours: 5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate's availability. Weekend and school holiday availability will be required.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.

If you would like to apply for this role, please send your CV. Alternatively, you can request an application form.

Your CV or application form will be passed on to the family for their consideration. Due to the high number of applicants that are received for various roles, it is not possible to inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful.
