Summary

School Caretaker

Hartlepool

Contract: Temporary (3 Months)

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: Full Time, Rotating Shift Pattern

Week 1: 05:45am - 1:45pm

Week 2: 11:30am - 7:30pm

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a busy Higher Education organisation in Hartlepool on a temporary basis for an initial 3-month assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, facilities assistant, site operative, or maintenance professional looking to work within an educational environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the site remains safe, secure, clean, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and closing the site and securing buildings.

Carrying out routine building inspections and reporting maintenance issues.

Undertaking basic repairs and general maintenance duties.

Assisting with room set-ups and site preparations for events and activities.

Monitoring health and safety compliance across the site.

Managing deliveries and liaising with contractors when required.

Ensuring external areas are maintained and kept safe and tidy.

Responding promptly to site-related issues and emergencies.

Requirements

Previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site management experience.

Ability to carry out basic DIY and maintenance tasks.

Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.

Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently.

Good communication and organisational skills.

Flexibility to work the alternating shift pattern.
