About the Employer

About the employer I am the employer and daughter to my mother who has been allocated a direct payment to support her with her morning routines each weekday and one waking night support per week. My mother has a diagnosis of Dementia which has resulted in her feeling increased anxiety, agitation and panic attacks at being on her own, especially overnight. Her care and support is with extensive support from family members. The role is for a PA to cover mornings and one night per week which will allow some respite for the family who are providing the majority of her support. We are seeking a PA to provide my mother with prompt and assistance with her personal care, assisting in administering her medication, support with pet care, support preparing her for bed and most importantly companionship The waking night support is required as my mother may refuse to go to bed, get out of bed multiple times or wish to stay awake for periods watching TV My mother enjoys the company of others and has a good sense of humour. She is able to converse with others and enjoys being occupied and kept busy, so the PA will need to be motivated and have good communication skills The support will also grant us a break from our caring roles and an opportunity for my mother to build and extend her support network with someone other than a family member. Summary of duties We are seeking someone to assist and support in my mother with the following tasks: - • Providing companionship /befriending • Waking night support • Administering medication • Support with pet care • Propt and occasional assistance with personal care • Prompt and support with general household duties My mothers’ needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this.
