This is an exciting opportunity to join a national advocacy team, providing remote support to LGBT+ victims and survivors and helping them to feel supported, heard and empowered.

About the role

As a National LGBT+ Independent Victim Advocate, you will manage a national caseload and provide specialist, person-centred and trauma-informed support to LGBT+ clients who have experienced abuse or violence.

You will:

  • Help clients navigate criminal and civil justice processes and understand their rights and options.

  • Make appropriate referrals and signpost clients to relevant services including housing, welfare and counselling.

  • Work closely with partner organisations and other agencies to safeguard clients.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in line with GDPR and organisational policies.

  • Attend team meetings, supervision and training.

About you

You will ideally have:

  • Experience supporting victims or survivors of abuse or violence.

  • A strong understanding of LGBT+ experiences and the impact of discrimination.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, including safeguarding children and adults at risk.

  • Experience managing a busy caseload and working to targets.

  • A person-centred and empowering approach to supporting clients.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving and partnership-working skills.

  • A good understanding of discrimination and intersectionality.

  • Experience working with LGBT+ communities and an understanding of the specific barriers LGBT+ survivors may face.

A relevant qualification such as IDVA or ISVA would be desirable but is not essential.

Please note: experience and understanding of LGBT+ needs and the impact of discrimination is an essential requirement for this position.

Why apply?

  • Fully remote working

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week

  • £15 per hour + holiday pay

  • 3-month contract with potential to become permanent

  • Opportunity to work within a specialist national LGBT+ service
