Complex Needs Teaching Assistant | Specialist SEN Unit | Burton-on-Trent (DE14) | Full Time/Part Time Roles | ASAP Start | Up to £125 per day | Term Time Only

We are recruiting a compassionate and resilient Complex Needs Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND unit within an FE college in Burton-on-Trent town centre (DE14), supporting students aged 16-25 with significant and complex needs. You will help students access learning, develop communication and independence, and manage their daily routines, with personal care being an essential part of the role. We are looking for someone patient, proactive, and resilient who is passionate about helping young people develop their independence and achieve positive outcomes as they prepare for adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required

- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex needs

- Support students with communication, sensory and emotional regulation strategies

- Work closely with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals

- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

- Support pupils in developing independence, confidence and life skills

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

- Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs

- Understanding of ASD, SLD, PMLD or physical disabilities

- A calm, patient and resilient approach

- Confidence supporting pupils with challenging behaviours when required

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Background in SEN, care, support work or healthcare is highly desirable
