Band 4 Inpatient / Outpatient Facilitator

3 x Permanent Posts | 37.5 Hours per Week

The Access, Booking and Choice Team at Bolton Hospital  is looking to recruit two enthusiastic and motivated Inpatient / Outpatient Facilitators to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment, supporting management of patient appointments & capacity across a range of specialties. Working closely with Capacity Co-ordinators, Booking Teams, Operational Managers and Clinical Teams, you will play a key role in ensuring patients receive timely access to care .

The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day  management of patient pathways, proactively resolving access and booking issues and contributing to the achievement of Referral to Treatment (RTT) and Cancer Waiting Time standards. You will also support waiting list management. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and organisational skills. You should be able to prioritise competing demands, work accurately under pressure and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.

Previous experience within an NHS, healthcare or administrative environment is desirable, particularly supervising teams & waiting list management.

Key Responsibilities 

Support the day-to-day operational management of inpatient and outpatient access, booking and capacity services, ensuring patients are offered timely appointments and pathways are managed effectively. Work collaboratively with Capacity Planning Co-ordinators, Booking Teams, Operational Managers and Clinical Teams to balance capacity and demand across designated specialties.

Support waiting list management and validation processes, identifying and escalating issues that may impact performance or patient care.

Work flexibly across the service, redeploying resources as required to meet operational demands and ensure continuity of service. Monitor workloads, performance and capacity, taking appropriate action to address concerns and improve efficiency.

Support the implementation of service improvements and new ways of working, promoting high standards of customer care and a positive patient experience. Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures and booking processes, enabling the delivery of a safe, effective and efficient service.

Provide support and guidance to team members under the direction of the Capacity Planning Co-ordinator, responding to operational queries and requests for information, including in the absence of the line manager. Represent Access, Booking and Choice professionally at all times and contribute to the effective utilisation of clinical capacity across the patient pathway.
