Summary
Loader – The Timber Group (Herringswell) - you're the one making sure timber and materials are handled safely, packed right and ready to go - helping the yard and deliveries run like clockwork.
We’re a driven bunch, and that shows in everything we do.
We’re always looking for ways to do things better than we did yesterday – because being the first choice for our customers and a great place to work for our team is what we’re all about.
At The Timber Group, people matter. You’re recognised, respected, and remembered – and in return, it’s our people who earn the trust of customers, teammates and the communities we serve.
Our loyal customers stick with us because we build strong relationships. We listen, we deliver, and we go the extra mile to make sure they leave happy.
We’re looking for a Loader who’s all about getting things done safely and efficiently. You’ll be loading and unloading timber products onto lorries, making sure everything’s handled with care and accuracy. This role keeps you busy and involved in the day-to-day action - that involves planning how to load up in the best way to reduce any risks. If you’re someone who takes pride in doing the job right and keeping safety front and centre, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Safely load timber onto delivery vehicles, making sure everything’s secure and ready for the road
Use manual handling techniques and kit like side loaders to get the job done
Check loading notes to make sure the right items and quantities are going out
Keep the loading area clean, tidy and organised
Help out with general yard tasks like moving stock, stacking timber and keeping things neat
Chat with drivers, yard teammates and supervisors to make sure everything’s on track
Stick to health and safety rules and wear the right PPE
Flag any damaged goods or safety concerns straight away
We’re happy to explore flexible working options. Feel free to chat with us about it during the interview. While we might not be able to meet every request, we’ll always listen with an open mind - and there’s no judgment in asking
What You’ll Bring:
You’ll need a valid side loader licence and a good understanding of safe lifting and load securing. Being physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather is important. We’re after someone who’s organised, communicates well and can manage their time independently. You should be confident handling paperwork and following health and safety procedures. Experience in a timber yard or similar manual handling role is a bonus.
What’s in it for you:
We believe great work should be recognised and rewarded. Here’s what you can expect:
23 days’ holiday, plus bank holidays (31 days per year)
Company bonus scheme, based on performance
Contributory pension and life assurance
Discounts on high street retailers, supermarkets, restaurants, gyms and cinemas
Colleague discount across our group brands
Attraction and travel discounts
Training and development programmes to support your growth
We offer on-the-job training and opportunities to work towards recognised qualifications, including apprenticeships.
At Huws Gray, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes us stronger, smarter and better at serving our customers.
We’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace, whether you’re based in one of our branches, on the road or in one of our offices.
If you need any adjustments to support you through the application or interview process, please let us know.
