Summary
We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Chronic Pain Research Group at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, University of Dundee.
In this role, you will lead a study at the forefront of chronic pain epidemiology, helping to validate an algorithm for identifying neuropathic pain using linked healthcare data. Your work will generate evidence on prescribing practices and patient outcome s, supporting safer, more effective care for people living with chronic pain while informing clinical guidelines, healthcare planning and future research across the UK .
As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the Chronic Pain Research Group's mission to improve the identification and management of neuropathic pain. You will work closely with academic researchers, clinicians, patient partners, and the University of Dundee Health Informatics Centre, contributing to research that aims to transform how neuropathic pain is studied using routinely collected healthcare data. Through the analysis of linked electronic health records, you will generate evidence to inform clinical guidelines, optimise prescribing practices and support healthcare planning.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Conducting epidemiological and statistical analyses of linked questionnaire and healthcare data to validate the C -PICTURE algorithm for identifying neuropathic pain.
- Managing the day -to-day delivery of the CONNECT study, including data governance, secure data access and project coordination.
- Investigating prescribing patterns, treatment concordance and adverse health outcomes using large -scale healthcare datasets.
- Working collaboratively with clinicians, researchers, patient partners and data specialists to ensure scientific quality and clinical relevance.
- Disseminating findings through publications, conference presentations and stakeholder engagement activities.
Who We're Looking For
Essential
- A PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, health data science, medicine, pharmacy or a related discipline.
- Experience analysing complex datasets using R, Stata, SAS or Python.
- Knowledge of epidemiological methods and healthcare data analysis.
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
