Maybe you've worked as a Teaching Assistant, sports coach, Behaviour Mentor or youth worker. You know how to build rapport quickly, keep your cool when behaviour becomes challenging and set boundaries without turning every situation into a confrontation.
Long Term Futures is recruiting a Year 5 Teaching Assistant for a junior school in Haringey. The school needs someone confident and resilient who can support pupils with SEN, behaviour and emotional needs, while becoming a consistent and positive role model within the classroom.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support within Year 5
- Build strong relationships with pupils who can be difficult to engage
- Support children with SEN, SEMH and behavioural needs
- Help pupils recognise emotions and develop better regulation strategies
- Use encouragement, structure and clear boundaries to improve behaviour
- Re-engage pupils when concentration or motivation drops
- Support English, Maths and wider classroom learning
- Work alongside teachers and the SENCo towards individual targets
- Encourage pupils to become more confident and independent
Who Could Be a Great Fit?
We're interested in candidates from a range of backgrounds. You could already be an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, or you may have worked in:
- Behaviour mentoring
- Sports coaching
- Youth work
- Alternative provision
- SEN or pastoral support
- Children's residential or community settings
What's important is that you're confident, resilient and relatable, with the maturity to be both supportive and firm when required.
