Your new role

As Head of Technical Compliance, you will lead technical governance, engineering assurance, and statutory compliance across a diverse portfolio of defence sites throughout England.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and implementing technical strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation, engineering standards, and industry best practice. You will lead a team of technical specialists and authorised Persons, providing expert guidance across engineering compliance, health and safety, statutory inspections, sustainability, and infrastructure management.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading technical governance and compliance across a complex national estate.

Providing technical assurance and expert advice to senior stakeholders.

Managing audit, assurance, and compliance programmes.

Overseeing engineering standards, technical policies, procedures, and maintenance specifications.

Supporting major refurbishment and infrastructure projects through technical reviews and assurance processes.

Managing compliance reporting, risk registers, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Driving a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Supporting sustainability objectives and long-term asset management strategies.

This is a home-based position with regular travel across England (Ideally based in Salisbury)

Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Significant experience in technical compliance, engineering governance, or asset assurance within a complex operational environment.

A Level 3 qualification (or above) in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, engineering standards, and health and safety legislation.

Experience managing technical teams and influencing senior stakeholders.

Proven experience leading audit programmes, governance frameworks, and compliance activities.

Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Knowledge of CDM Regulations, asbestos management, legionella compliance, and wider engineering compliance disciplines.

Experience working within Defence, government, critical infrastructure, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
