We are seeking a dedicated School Medical Officer to lead and deliver high quality medical provision across our school, ensuring the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).This is a pivotal role within our safeguarding and wellbeing team. You will oversee first aid operations, manage personal and medical care, support pupils with complex health profiles, and work closely with the Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to uphold the highest clinical and safeguarding standards.About Our SchoolAt Rosehill School, we are a dedicated, local authority maintained special school supporting autistic pupils and learners with complex needs. As our Medical Officer, you will help shape these developing environments and play a vital part in enhancing the health and wellbeing provision across both sites.We are seeking someone who is:• Clinically trained or experienced in a healthcare or SEND environment.

• A good sense of humour and a sense of camaraderie, even in the face of challenge. Key ResponsibilitiesAs our School Medical Officer, you will: Lead Medical Provision and Daily Operations • Manage the medical room and deliver daily first aid across the school.

• Act as the primary responder to illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.

• Maintain clinical hygiene, audit medical supplies, and ensure all first aid equipment is compliant and replenished.

• Communicate with parents/carers, regarding pupil illness or injury and coordinate collection when required. Support Pupils with Complex Physical & Medical Needs• Carry out safe manual handling, lifting, and positioning for pupils with physical disabilities.

• Ensure all personal care is delivered with dignity, sensitivity, and respect. Medication Management & Care Planning• Dispense, store, record, and dispose of medication in line with strict procedures.

• Prepare medication for off site visits and activities.

• Write, update, and maintain Healthcare Plans (HCPs) in collaboration with families and health professionals. Team Oversight & Training• Supervise first aiders and care assistants.

• Coordinate whole school first aid and EpiPen training.

• Provide guidance and support to staff working with pupils with identified medical needs. Safeguarding, Compliance & Crisis Intervention• Apply CPI safety interventions and de escalation strategies when supporting distressed pupils.

• Maintain accurate medical records, accident logs, consent registers, and statutory reporting (e.g., RIDDOR).

• Uphold confidentiality and safeguarding requirements in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

• Liaise with external agencies regarding public health concerns or medical incidents. Health, Safety & Wellbeing• Contribute to the school’s Health & Safety and Safeguarding teams.

• Write and update Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs).

• Provide emotional support to vulnerable pupils and signpost wellbeing resources.

• Support the delivery of whole school wellbeing initiatives. General Expectations• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Follow all school policies and health and safety regulations.

• Be flexible with working hours when required

• Undertake administrative duties relevant to the medical officer role.

• Carry out any reasonable instruction from the Senior Leadership Team
