What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Deputy Principal who will live our values, drive our vision, and help every child believe they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. You will work in close partnership with the Principal to continue our journey of excellence, the use of technology, nurturing learners, and leadership in all aspects of school life.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school with a strong character, excellent reputation in the community and an exciting future.

If you are a school leader with a passion for vision-led change, faith-driven values, and educational excellence, we warmly invite you to apply.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged.

The Olive Tree Primary School recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all ethnicities, and backgrounds. People of all faiths and none are welcome to apply.

What the school offers its staff

At The Olive Tree Primary School, Bolton’s first Free School, we believe every child is a seed full of potential. Guided by our motto, “Believe you can”, we nurture pupils to flourish academically, socially and emotionally—growing into compassionate, resilient and creative individuals.

The Olive Tree is a highly popular school situated in the Daubhill area of Bolton, with an Islamic ethos and an established reputation for using technology to enhance children’s learning. We are over-subscribed, with 420 pupils between our classes in Reception and Year 6.

We are proud that in January 2025 Ofsted graded us ‘Good in all areas’, praising pupils who “are happy, safe and achieve well.” In March 2025 our Section 48 inspection judged us Outstanding in all areas, noting how our ethos and values shine through in the behaviour, attitudes and relationships across the school.

As an Apple Distinguished School and Apple Regional Training Centre, we embrace innovation and technology to inspire creativity, critical thinking and collaboration, preparing our pupils to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Rooted in our community and underpinned by an Islamic ethos, we live by six values: Trust, Peace, Fairness, Respect, Equality and Compassion. These guide everything we do, shaping confident learners and responsible citizens.

Colleagues benefit from:

• Access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme

• Access to our Employee Assistance Programme

• Continued professional development and training opportunities

• A supportive staff team

• Access to the latest educational technology

Commitment to safeguarding

At The Olive Tree primary we strive to ensure that all students remain safe and free from harm and we are committed to playing a full and active part in the Multi-Agency response to Child Protection concerns. Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. All posts are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. In line with "Keeping Children Safe in Education", a search will be carried out (via an online search engine) as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
