Summary

Do you have experience working within a maintenance environment? Would you like the challenge of being part of a team responsible for our 6.5-acre site?

We are looking for someone to join our estates and facilities team as an Estates and Facilities Assistant. This is a busy role for someone who can carry out planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs across the site.

You will be working within a small team undertaking minor works and carrying out routine checks and inspections of our residential accommodation, commercial buildings and grounds. You will also ensure that accurate records of inspections and completed works are maintained. As part of the team you will ensure that the site remains safe and in good repair for our companions and customers.

Principal responsibilities and duties

Carry out day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance which may include: reparing fixtures and fittings (curtain rails, door handles, door locks etc.) care of drains, roof guttering and plants on site painting and decorating (internal and external) brick and block work floor laying (laminate, lino and carpet) glazing cleaning on site as required tidying gardens and grounds weeding and grass cuttings upkeep of carparks groundworks hedge cutting

Carry out unplanned repairs around the site as identified.

Working with the team on routine checks and inspections across the site, updating maintenance logs and service records of completed works in accordance with company policies, procedures and guidelines.

Ensuring all required repairs and faults are reported to the Estates and Facilities Manager or appropriate staff member promptly.

Ensuring safe access to the site, including keeping paths and entrances clear of leaves and moss, as well as gritting and snow clearing during severe weather. Working alongside residents to support their training and development.

Health & Safety: Adhere to all policies and procedures related to health and safety and COSHH regulations.

Ensure all repairs comply with health and safety legislation, Emmaus Cambridge policies and regulatory standards.

Be proactive in maintaining, supporting and promoting a secure and safe environment for all residents, customers, staff and visitors.

Ensure all equipment used is well maintained, in good working order and to log any defects and report them to the Estates and Facilities Manager or appropriate staff member.

Maintain and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Ensure that no equipment or machinery is operated under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
