Summary

The post holder will provide referral screening, assessments and deliver therapeutic sessions and psychopharmacological treatment and interventions for a broad range of mental health conditions meeting specialist CAMHS criteria. Primarily, the prescriber will treat neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ADHD. The applicant will therefore need past experience and knowledge of treating as an independent prescriber for this client group.

The role is mainly clinic-based and will focus on the delivery of timely, high-quality interventions. This position provides opportunities to work with and develop links with health and social care as part of theiTHRIVE Frameworkto delivery of care for young people. The role will appeal to a skilled CAMHS clinician with UK Professional registration who enjoys specialist work in a dynamic CAMHS service.

• To work with an independent medical prescriber, as a supplementary non-medical prescriber, within the designated area of practice.

• As a supplementary non-medical prescriber prepare clinical management plans and prescribe only in accordance with these and within their scope of practice/competency taking full responsibility and accountability for their prescribing decisions.

• As an Independent non-medical prescriber, prescribe for clients with an existing diagnosis taking full responsibility and accountability for clinical assessment and management of patients and their prescribing decisions. They may prescribe medications as considered safe and appropriate under national and local guidance and within their competency.

• Liaise with other healthcare providers as appropriate in accordance with service policies, ensuring patients are referred to other healthcare professionals as necessary to access other aspects of their healthcare

• Ensure that prescriptions are written legibly and legally and in accordance with the trust Medicines Management Policy.

• Ensure that they comply with prescription security and maintain a personal record of prescription numbers

• Work with service users in order to support concordance with prescribed treatments, providing education on medication.

• Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on regimens, side-effects and interactions.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

• To provide specialist assessments of children and young people referred to the team with the use of evidence-based assessment tools and plan clinical care accordingly. Assessments may be carried out individually or jointly with other colleagues from the team.

• To be responsible for implementing a range of interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups.

• To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.

• To always practice wherever possible using shared decision making around prescribing medication, ensuring requirements of capacity and consent are met, with clear clinical documentation, following local and national policies, procedures and legislation.

• To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose needs are managed by high quality service user care and treatment plans.
