Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivatedSenior Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicineto join our established Respiratory team on afull-time substantive basis.

A key feature of this post is participation in the Trust's General Internal Medicine (GIM) on-call rota, providing an excellent opportunity for clinicians wishing to maintain and develop their acute medicine skills alongside a rewarding Senior Clinical Fellow Respiratory role.

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician who is passionate about Respiratory Medicine and acute care, and who is looking to establish themselves in a substantive role within a supportive teaching hospital environment. In addition to specialist respiratory practice, the successful candidate will have opportunities to become involved in teaching, training, quality improvement, service development and research.

Based at theRoyal Albert Edward Infirmary, the successful applicant will work within a dynamic and forward-thinking Respiratory Department, delivering high-quality care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The post offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced team of Respiratory Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and junior doctors, contributing to the continued development of Respiratory services across the Trust.

• Review referrals to the service daily in liaison with Consultants.

• Assist in clinics as necessary, seeing both new and follow-up patients.

• Attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings.

• Ward rounds.

• Continuing professional development.

• Providing support during periods of absence of Consultants.

• Maintain good communication with all consultants and the multidisciplinary team.

• Work with FY1 and FY2 in the treatment of patients admitted, undertake and supervise medical procedures as requested.

• Ensure good communication with GP’s and other agencies such as Palliative Care services.

• Participation in teaching and training activities for medical and other clinical staff.

• Teaching of junior medical staff, medical students and nurses will be expected.

• The Trust encourages proposals for research projects.
