Bank Locum General Practitioner (GP) Job Title: Bank Locum General Practitioner (GP) Location: Various locations across Vertis Health services Contract Type: Bank / Zero Hours Reporting To: Clinical Lead / Service Manager Job Purpose: As a Bank Locum GP, you will provide high-quality, safe and effective clinical care across a range of primary care, urgent care and community healthcare services. Working flexibly to meet service demands, you will assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting with both routine and urgent healthcare needs. You will work autonomously within your professional scope of practice while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centred care and positive health outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of patients presenting with a wide range of healthcare needs. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practice. Prescribe medications safely and appropriately within professional and regulatory requirements. Request, interpret and act upon investigations and diagnostic tests. Refer patients to secondary care, community services or other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Deliver consultations through a variety of methods, including face-to-face, telephone and virtual appointments. Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration, ensuring timely escalation of care where required. Provide clear advice, treatment plans and safety-netting information to patients and carers. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records using electronic patient record systems. Participate in effective clinical handovers and multidisciplinary team working. Adhere to all safeguarding policies and ensure concerns are identified, documented and escalated appropriately. Support clinical governance activities, including incident reporting, audits and service improvement initiatives. Comply with infection prevention and control, information governance, health and safety, and organisational policies. Contribute positively to a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism and excellence in patient care. Professional Responsibilities: Maintain full registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC). Work within the standards set by the GMC and other relevant professional bodies. Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) and participate in mandatory training requirements. Ensure clinical knowledge and skills remain current and aligned with evidence-based practice. Uphold patient confidentiality and data protection requirements at all times.
