Summary

Deputy Memory Service Manager - Key Responsibilities Provide clinical and operational leadership within the Memory Service, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to the assessment, diagnosis and management of people with dementia. Oversee referral screening, triage, assessment and care planning, ensuring patients and carers receive timely, evidence-based interventions and support. Act as an expert resource for dementia care, mental health, behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, medication management, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and safeguarding processes. Support patients, families and carers throughout the dementia pathway, providing education, advice, emotional support and strategies to manage complex and challenging behaviours. Deputise for the Memory Service Manager and contribute to the strategic development of the service, ensuring compliance with national standards, legislation and Trust objectives. Lead, supervise and support staff through appraisal, clinical supervision, performance management, mentorship and workforce development activities. Foster effective communication and partnership working with GPs, primary care networks, social care, acute trusts, voluntary organisations and other key stakeholders. Monitor service performance, quality standards, activity data and KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, patient outcomes and service delivery. Lead on clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development projects, ensuring practice remains evidence-based and aligned with current research and best practice guidance. Ensure high standards of clinical documentation, record keeping, confidentiality and information governance across the service. Manage resources effectively, including caseload allocation, staffing, sickness absence, health and safety responsibilities and day-to-day operational demands. Promote a culture of continuous learning, supporting student placements, staff training, research activity and the implementation of innovation within the service. Maintain oversight of risk management and complex case reviews, ensuring safe, person-centred and legally compliant care for patients with cognitive impairment and dementia.
