Are you an experienced HLTA who is passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs thrive?
Do you have experience supporting pupils with autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)?
TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEND school in Bristol to find a dedicated HLTA to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026.
The school provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for pupils with autism, SLD, PMLD, and complex additional needs. Learning is personalised around each pupil, with a strong focus on building confidence, independence, and helping every young person work towards their individual goals.
As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff. You will deliver targeted interventions, lead learning activities with individuals and small groups, and support whole-class learning where appropriate. You will play an important role in helping pupils achieve positive academic, social, and emotional outcomes.
The successful HLTA will have:

HLTA status or relevant equivalent experience
•
Experience in a SEND school or specialist education setting
•
Knowledge of autism, SLD, and PMLD
•
Experience supporting complex needs, including medical needs and behaviours that challenge
•
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
•
A positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to supporting children and young people
