Summary

Luma Education Recruitment are working with a specialist SEMH school in Warwick seeking a confident and supportive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
Experience supporting Maths, Functional Skills or numeracy would be a huge advantage, whether this has been gained in a primary, secondary, college or alternative provision setting.
The Role
As an SEMH Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide a combination of academic, pastoral and behavioural support, helping pupils engage with education and develop their confidence.
Your role could include:
Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
Providing classroom and learning support
Supporting Maths and Functional Skills where appropriate
Helping pupils develop numeracy and everyday maths skills
Supporting students who struggle to engage with learning
Helping pupils manage behaviour and emotional regulation
Building positive and trusting relationships
Encouraging confidence, independence and resilience
Supporting teachers with classroom activities
Providing consistent support throughout the school day
Maths & Functional Skills Experience
The school would particularly welcome candidates with experience in:
Primary or secondary Maths
Functional Skills Maths
Numeracy intervention
GCSE Maths support
Supporting pupils who struggle with Maths
Small-group or 1:1 academic intervention
You do not need to be a qualified Maths teacher. A strong understanding of Maths and the ability to explain concepts clearly could be enough.
About the Pupils
The school supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside behavioural and additional learning needs.
The right person will be calm, patient, consistent and resilient, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive boundaries.
Previous SEMH, SEN, Alternative Provision or behaviour-support experience would be beneficial, but transferable experience will also be considered.

Experience working with children or young people
Teaching Assistant, LSA, youth work or similar experience
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Calm and consistent approach to behaviour
Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
Maths, numeracy or Functional Skills experience highly desirable
Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
Genuine interest in supporting young people to succeed
