Are you an experienced Accounts Officer or Financial Accountant looking for a role where your expertise really matters? Join a specialist pension finance team and play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of a £2.2bn Pension Fund.

The Role

Reporting to the Investment & Accounting Manager, you will take responsibility for a broad range of pension fund accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations and controls, working closely with investment managers, custodians, administrators and auditors.

You will:

Support the preparation of the Pension Fund Report & Accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with CIPFA requirements.

Prepare and analyse monthly investment transaction reports and ensure fund holdings are accurately reflected in the Statement of Accounts.

Own and complete complex financial reconciliations, ensuring accurate recording within financial systems.

Manage and clear pension fund suspense account items and ensure correct alignment with the chart of accounts.

Maintain high-quality working papers and audit trails, acting as a key contact for internal and external auditors.

Liaise with Investment Managers, Custodians and Pension Administrators to resolve queries and ensure data accuracy.

Raise purchase orders, process invoices and manage invoice-related queries.

Support ESG reporting and governance activities, including passive equity voting.

About You

We’re looking for a strong financial accounting professional with experience in:

Complex reconciliations and suspense accounts

General ledger and financial reporting systems

Working with large and complex financial datasets

Preparing accurate working papers and supporting audit processes

Liaising confidently with senior stakeholders, auditors and external financial partners

Experience within pension fund or public sector accounting is highly desirable, along with knowledge of CIPFA requirements and pension fund accounting.
