Job title: Clinical Pharmacist - Band 7 Department: Pharmacy Salary: Competitive salary, dependent on experience Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with On-Call Contract: Permanent Are you an experienced hospital pharmacist looking to develop your clinical expertise within a varied and specialist healthcare environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pharmacy team and provide expert medicines management across a broad range of surgical and medical specialties. Working at the heart of the multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure that every patient receives safe, effective and evidence-based medicines throughout their care. A little about the role As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service across a range of specialist wards. A postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or an equivalent postgraduate qualification is essential for this role. You will spend time within clinical areas, building strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams, reviewing medicines and supporting patients throughout admission and discharge. You will provide expert advice to patients and healthcare professionals while ensuring medicines are used safely, effectively and appropriately. The role also includes dispensary responsibilities, participation in the Pharmacy on-call and extended hours rotas, and opportunities to contribute to clinical audit, education and service improvement. What you'll be doing As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will: Deliver clinical pharmacy services across specialist wards to support safe and effective patient care Complete medicines reconciliation and review prescriptions to reduce risk and support appropriate prescribing Lead medicines optimisation and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions of care Provide expert medicines advice to patients and clinical teams to support informed treatment decisions Liaise with healthcare providers to maintain continuity of care following discharge Contribute to audits and quality improvement projects to strengthen medicines safety and Pharmacy services Screen prescriptions and complete final accuracy checks to support safe and timely dispensing Participate in on call and extended hours rotas to maintain Pharmacy support across the hospital Support the development of Pharmacy colleagues and clinical teams to promote safe medicines practice Complete the Clinical Pharmacy Diploma to develop your specialist knowledge and professional practice What we're looking for Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council Post registration experience within a UK hospital pharmacy is essential Experience across a range of hospital pharmacy rotations Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A proactive, collaborative and patient focused approach It would also be beneficial if you have: A postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience An Independent Prescriber qualification Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or UK Clinical Pharmacy Association What you'll be part of You will join a welcoming and supportive Pharmacy team where colleagues work closely together, share knowledge and help each other develop.
