Summary

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our specialist Paediatric Psychology Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a psychology graduate seeking valuable NHS experience before pursuing further professional training in Clinical Psychology or related professions.

Working under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists, you will support children, young people and families affected by a range of physical health conditions. You will contribute to clinical work, service evaluation, audit, research and resource development as part of a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team.

 This six-month fixed-term post has been developed through NHS England funding to increase access to psychology careers and provide paid clinical experience opportunities for aspiring clinical psychologists who may otherwise face barriers to entering the profession.We particularly welcome applications from individuals who have experienced socio-economic disadvantage, caring responsibilities or other barriers to traditional psychology career pathways.

Applicants must be available to attend interview on 29th September 2026 .

The successful candidate will:

• Support psychological assessment and intervention activities under supervision.

• Assist with service evaluation, audit and research projects.

• Administer, score and summarise outcome measures.

• Develop patient information and psychoeducational resources.

• Support data collection and reporting activities.

• Work alongside paediatric multidisciplinary teams.

• Participate in supervision, reflective practice and training opportunities.
