Summary

We are looking for a CBT Therapist to work alongside our EMHPs and Specialist Practitioners to deliver high-quality, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions to children and young people experiencing a range of emotional and mental health difficulties. Interventions will be delivered primarily within educational settings, with some remote delivery where clinically appropriate. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing children and young people referred to the service, determining their suitability for CBT, developing shared formulations, and delivering specialist CBT interventions tailored to individual needs. They will hold responsibility for their own clinical caseload, undertaking autonomous clinical decision-making, risk assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of outcomes while working within professional and organisational guidelines. As a key member of the multidisciplinary Mental Health Support Team, the post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues, schools, families, and partner agencies to support children and young people's emotional wellbeing. The role includes providing specialist CBT consultation, advice, and support to team members and educational settings, contributing to a whole-school approach to mental health and helping to build the confidence and capability of school staff. The CBT Therapist will contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice within the service by supporting colleagues with CBT-informed interventions, participating in supervision and reflective practice, and sharing specialist knowledge and expertise with the wider team. Opportunities will also be available to contribute to training, service improvement projects, audit, research, and the continued development of CBT pathways across Nottinghamshire MHSTs. The role requires a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, maintaining BABCP accreditation and professional development, and using routine outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness and improve service delivery. The successful candidate will be supported through regular clinical and management supervision and will join an established network of CBT Therapists across Nottinghamshire MHST, providing opportunities for peer support, collaborative working, and ongoing professional development. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
