You will be reporting to a Deputy Principal.

Your working pattern is Monday to Friday. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

The purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery and development of a large single; or several smaller curriculum areas in order to maintain and enhance the quality of provision and ensure that the training and further/higher educational opportunities meet the future needs of the communities of Orkney.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced, motivated and innovative individuals to join our team at UHI Orkney as Curriculum Leader. Two roles are available. One will be to manage Art, Childcare, Education, Hairdressing & Hospitality and the other will be to manage Business, Health, Social Care & Tourism.

UHI Orkney is the main provider of further and higher education across Orkney. It is a truly tertiary institution, offering a broad curriculum covering community short courses, evening classes, local business focused training, secondary school subjects, vocational and academic qualifications up to and including Doctoral degrees. The institution benefits from its dual status as a partner of UHI, wholly owned by Orkney Islands Council, which gives it strong roots in the local community and a focus on supporting the local economy, alongside a national and international reach. UHI Orkney’s Strategic Plan aims to put it at the forefront of delivering skills and knowledge which support development in key local sectors such as the green and blue economies, culture, heritage and tourism.

As Curriculum Leader, you will be responsible for the effective management of staff and other resources, ensuring delivering provision within a managed and balanced budget. You will be responsible for operational and resource planning, line management and quality assurance working with the UHI Orkney Senior Management team and departmental staff to continue to build upon the excellent provision at UHI Orkney. Although this post will predominantly be a management position, some teaching and/or research may be accommodated, subject to service needs and discussion with your line manager.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
