Summary
To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Paediatric Psychology Service, providing a high-quality, specialist clinical psychology service to children and young people and their families across the Neurodisability and Psychological Therapies pathways. To undertake psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments, formulations and interventions for children and young people presenting with a range of emotional, behavioural, adjustment and neurodevelopmental difficulties associated with physical health conditions, developmental differences and complex life experiences. To work as a member of the Early Years Autism Assessment Team (EYAAT), contributing to multidisciplinary autism assessments for young children. This will include undertaking specialist autism assessments, contributing to diagnostic decision-making, providing feedback to families, and participating in ADOS assessments following completion of funded training. Funding for ADOS training is included in this post. To provide psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions within the Psychological Therapies pathway, supporting children and young people experiencing psychological difficulties associated with physical health conditions, adjustment to diagnosis, emotional wellbeing, behavioural challenges and mental health needs. To work as an integral member of multidisciplinary teams across paediatric services, providing consultation, formulation, advice and psychologically informed care to colleagues and partner agencies. To contribute to service evaluation, audit, clinical governance and service development activities, supporting the ongoing improvement of pathways and patient outcomes in line with local and national priorities. To provide supervision and support to trainee psychologists, assistant psychologists and other staff where appropriate, under the direction of senior psychologists. To ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality, evidence-based clinical psychology service to children, young people and families referred to the Paediatric Psychology Service, including those presenting with highly complex psychological, emotional and neurodevelopmental needs.
