Summary

The Ward Clerk provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of a hospital ward. The post holder acts as the first point of contact for patients, relatives and healthcare professionals, maintaining accurate records, supporting patient flow, and facilitating effective communication across the multidisciplinary team.

• Act as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for patients, relatives, visitors and health care professionals, delivering excellent customer service at all times. 

• Work as an integral member of the ward team, providing an efficient and professional clerical and administrative service in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and standards

• Maintain and manage patient records accurately and confidentially, ensuring all documentation is completed and filed in accordance with Trust and Information Governance requirements.

• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in managing changing priorities and workloads, responding promptly to requests for patient records and administrative support.

JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will:

 -Work as part of the ward team, to provide a smooth clerical and administrative service to the ward, 

in line with Trust policies and procedures.

- Be responsible for the effective and efficient management of patient records as per trust policy

 Ensure that all data entries are made in a timely manner and by doing so, contribute to the Trust’s 

targets, whether mandatory or local.

-Assist and support the team to ensure the delivery of a high quality service, requiring the use of 

good clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.

-Offer a friendly, polite and personal point of contact for all patients, their families and members of 

the public.

-Be flexible and adaptive in a changeable working environment where changing work plans require daily monitoring of required patient notes and the need to obtain different patient notes at short 

notice.
