Summary

The Nursing Assistant will work as part of the wider clinical and nursing team at Woodstock Bower Group Practice, providing support to Practice Nurses and GPs in the delivery of routine clinical care, health promotion, and chronic disease management services to registered patients. The postholder will carry out delegated clinical tasks competently and safely, under supervision, in accordance with practice protocols, Patient Group Directions (PGDs), and national guidance. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Undertake new patient health checks, including recording of height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, and urinalysis Perform venepuncture (phlebotomy) in line with training and competency Carry out ECG recording Administer seasonal and childhood vaccinations under PGD/supervision, where trained and competent to do so Support chronic disease management clinics (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension) by taking measurements and recording results Assist with minor surgery/treatment room procedures, including dressings and wound care Support cervical screening administration and health promotion campaigns (e.g. NHS Health Checks) Undertake B12 injections and other delegated injections where competent Chaperone duties as required Administrative & Organisational Duties Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records on the clinical system (EMIS/SystmOne) in line with practice policy Ensure correct coding of clinical activity for QOF and other reporting requirements Restock and maintain clinical rooms, ensuring equipment is clean, in working order, and appropriately stored Monitor and manage stock levels of vaccines, consumables, and clinical supplies, escalating shortages as needed Ensure specimens are labelled, stored, and dispatched correctly in line with practice protocols Support the ordering, checking, and safe storage of medicines and vaccines (including cold chain compliance) Infection Control & Safety Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times, including safe waste disposal and equipment decontamination Follow safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults, escalating concerns appropriately Maintain personal and patient safety in line with health and safety policy Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff to ensure smooth, patient-centred care Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, carers, and colleagues Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and practice development activities Support new or student staff members as required Professional Development Maintain and develop own clinical competencies through training, supervision, and appraisal Complete all mandatory training (e.g. infection control, safeguarding, basic life support) within required timeframes Work within the limits of own competence, escalating to a Registered Nurse or GP when necessary
