CARETAKERS & SITE MANAGERS REQUIRED | COVENTRY, WARWICKSHIRE & LEICESTER/LEICESTERSHIRE | IMMEDIATE STARTS

We’re currently recruiting for a number of Caretaker and Site Manager positions across schools and educational settings in Coventry, Warwickshire, Leicester and Leicestershire.

What will you be responsible for?

Depending on the role, duties may include:

    • General 

    day-to-day maintenance of the school site and buildings

    • Carrying out repairs and basic DIY, including plumbing, carpentry, decorating and general maintenance

    • Identifying and reporting maintenance issues and arranging repairs where required

    • Completing regular 

    site checks and inspections

    • Ensuring the school premises are safe, secure and well maintained

    • Opening and closing school buildings and managing site security

    • Setting and monitoring heating, lighting and other building systems

    • Maintaining outdoor areas, including playgrounds, paths and grounds

    • Supporting contractors and external maintenance teams while on site

    • Monitoring deliveries and access to the premises

    • Assisting with emergency procedures and responding to site-related issues

    • Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed across the school site

    • Maintaining appropriate records, logs and compliance documentation

    What experience are we looking for?

    Ideally, candidates will have:

      • Previous experience as a 

      Caretaker, Site Manager, Premises Manager, Facilities Assistant or Maintenance Operative

      • Experience working within a 

      school, college, public building or similar environment would be highly desirable

      • Good practical 

      maintenance and DIY skills

      • Experience with basic 

      plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance, decorating and general repairs

      • A good understanding of 

      Health & Safety and site compliance

      • Experience carrying out 

      risk assessments, site checks and maintenance inspections

      • The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and respond effectively to urgent issues

      • Good communication skills and the ability to work positively with 

      school staff, pupils, contractors and visitors

      • A proactive approach, with pride in maintaining a 

      safe, clean and secure environment

      Qualifications & Training

      Depending on the position, relevant qualifications or training may include:

        • Health & Safety training

        • First Aid

        • Manual Handling

        • COSHH awareness

        • Fire Safety / Fire Warden training

        • Asbestos Awareness

        • Relevant maintenance, facilities or trade qualifications

        • PAT Testing experience/training

        • Legionella / water hygiene awareness

        Relevant qualifications are advantageous, but practical experience and a strong maintenance background are also highly valued.

        Safeguarding & Checks

        As these positions are based within 

        educational settings, safeguarding is extremely important.

        Successful candidates will be required to complete the appropriate 

        safeguarding and pre-employment checks, which may include:

          • Enhanced 

          DBS check

          • DBS Update Service where applicable

          • Right to Work checks

          • Employment and reference checks

          • Verification of relevant qualifications

          • Relevant safeguarding checks and compliance procedures

          Previous experience working safely around 

          children and young people is highly desirable.
