Summary
I am currently recruiting for a hands-on Temporary Health & Safety Officer to support a busy public sector environmental services team through a period of change and project activity.
This is a practical, site-based role where you'll work closely with operational teams, frontline workers, managers and the Wellbeing Manager to provide additional H&S support across a diverse range of services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of health & safety across fleet, waste and environmental services operations
- Carry out workplace inspections, audits and monitoring activities
- Assist with incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending improvements
- Support managers with risk assessments, safe systems of work and compliance activities
- Provide practical health & safety advice to operational teams
- Promote positive safety behaviours and help strengthen safety culture across the workforce
- Monitor compliance with policies, procedures and statutory requirements
- Support health & safety projects and improvement initiatives during a period of organisational change
- Build strong relationships with employees, supervisors and managers to drive engagement
About You
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within operational or frontline environments
- Comfortable working across varied environments including fleet, heavy plant, waste management or similar services
- Strong investigation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Practical, approachable and able to influence people at all levels
- Available to start at short notice or within a reasonable timeframe

Temporary contract until Christmas, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.
The pay rate for this role is £26-£30
