The Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to work on a fixed term for 3 years research programme to advance understanding of the risk factors for exertional heat illness in military personnel. You will work alongside Professor Neil Walsh and his team on an MOD-funded research programme extending recently published work. Find out more about our recent research

We are looking for an individual with a strong interest in the subject matter, who enjoys the challenge of working in both the laboratory and field setting. A willingness to travel between research locations within the UK is an essential requirement of the role.

You will be expected to assist in all aspects of the programme of work, including study design; ethical approval; the day-to-day running and administration of the research project; the implementation of interventions; assisting in the collection and interpretation of data; and the production of technical reports and manuscripts for publication.

You will hold a good honours degree (First or 2.1) in a relevant subject area e.g., exercise science, human physiology. Experience of conducting high quality research is essential. A master's postgraduate degree is desirable, as is experience of biological sample collection (e.g., venous blood), handling, storage (in accordance with GLP), biochemical analysis and an awareness of quality control techniques. In addition, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise a continuously demanding workload.
