Summary
Main Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities The post holder will: Provide comprehensive general medical services to registered patients in accordance with the NHS GP Contract. Undertake face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations as appropriate. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses. Assess, investigate and refer patients where clinically appropriate. Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with national and local guidance. Manage patients presenting with undifferentiated and complex conditions. Conduct home visits where clinically necessary. Provide health promotion advice and preventative healthcare interventions. Maintain accurate, legible and contemporaneous clinical records. Participate in safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults. Support the management of patients with long-term conditions. Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control procedures. Administrative Responsibilities The post holder will: Process pathology and imaging results in a timely manner. Action clinical correspondence, hospital letters, and electronic communications. Complete medical reports and forms as required. Maintain compliance with information governance and data protection requirements. Participate in practice audits and quality improvement activities. Quality and Governance The post holder will: Participate in clinical governance activities. Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) achievement. Engage in significant event reviews and learning activities. Support CQC compliance and quality improvement initiatives. Assist in the development and implementation of clinical policies and protocols. Report incidents and near misses in accordance with practice policy. Teaching and Training The post holder may: Support the supervision of medical students, GP trainees, nurses, or other healthcare professionals. Participate in educational meetings and practice learning events. Maintain professional development through regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Team Working The post holder will: Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, including: Advanced Clinical Practitioners Practice Nurses Healthcare Assistants Clinical Pharmacists First Contact Practitioners Mental Health Practitioners Social Prescribers Administrative and Reception Teams Promote effective communication and teamwork across the organisation. Professional Responsibilities The successful candidate must: Be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a licence to practise. Be included on the NHS England Medical Performers List. Maintain medical indemnity appropriate to the role. Adhere to GMC Good Medical Practice guidance. Participate in annual appraisal and revalidation requirements.
