Location: Bolton Abbey Estate, Skipton, North Yorkshire
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Business Assistant to become the trusted right hand to our Estate Director.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of one of the UK's most iconic rural estates, supporting strategic projects,
driving business priorities, and helping to shape the future direction of the estate. No two days will be the same, as you work
across a diverse range of departments including tourism, property, forestry, game, and grounds maintenance.
Who are we?
The Bolton Abbey Estate is the Yorkshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, spanning 26,500 acres of breathtaking
countryside within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Our estate includes let farms, moorland, woodland, historic buildings,
residential and commercial properties, and the iconic 12th-century Bolton Priory ruins.
Alongside the let estate, we operate a diverse portfolio of businesses including tourism, retail, food and drink, and
accommodation. As part of the wider Devonshire Group, which employs over 1,400 people across the UK and Ireland, we are committed
to delivering excellence while preserving heritage and supporting sustainable practices.
Our work is guided by our values: Always Improving, Decency, and Being Inclusive.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-level support to the Estate Director, helping to drive strategic priorities and business objectives.
* Coordinate and manage projects from planning through to completion, including research, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder
engagement.
* Gather and analyse data to monitor project performance, identify opportunities, and support informed decision-making.
* Prepare reports, presentations, briefing papers, and meeting documentation to a high standard.
* Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments to ensure successful delivery of key initiatives.
* Support budgeting, project cost tracking, and financial reporting.
* Assist with diary management, meeting coordination, minute taking, and administrative processes.
* Help improve business processes and support health and safety compliance activities across the estate.
What we're looking for
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Experience coordinating projects and delivering outcomes.
* A confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
* The ability to work with discretion and handle confidential information.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Financial awareness and experience supporting budgets or project costs.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
* A proactive, collaborative approach and a full UK driving licence.
What we offer
This is a rare opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and gain exposure to a broad range of estate and commercial
operations. You will play a key role in delivering projects that have a lasting impact across one of the country's most renowned
rural estates.
You will benefit from working within a supportive and collaborative environment, with access to the wider Devonshire Group,
colleague benefits, estate access, and opportunities to develop your career within a diverse and dynamic organisation.
