Summary

Individual job plans will be discussed with the post holder on appointment, with the lead clinician to finalise the job plan which will become operational on commencement. All job plans are agreed in line with the Trust's job planning principles. All consultant Vascular Surgeons share hub and spoke work in an equitable manner. Whilst clinical commitments are fixed it is possible to move most admin, SPA and non-NHS sessions without difficulty. It is also possible to discuss contribution to spoke activity on an individual basis to suit living arrangements. Job plans will be reviewed at least annually, following an appraisal meeting. The job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a Consultant's typical working pattern, duties and responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. It will cover all aspects of a Consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities and external commitments. Additional programmed activities will be offered to the post holder for a 12 PA job plan, although 10 or 11 PA job plans are possible with the proviso that full participation in the on-call rota is met. Additional programmed activities will be based on the needs of the service and in line with the Trust objectives and will be reviewed on at least an annual basis. A core 1.25 PAs of SPA time is provided per week for Consultant and SAS grades.
