Summary

Herdsperson

The Job:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and capable Herdsperson to join a progressive dairy farm in Wiltshire. The successful candidate will work as part of a two person team, caring for a herd of approximately 150 Guernsey cows plus youngstock. The farm is equipped with two new Lely robotic milking systems, providing a modern working environment.

The candidate:

- Previous experience working with dairy cattle

- Confident and proficient in operating farm machinery

- Experienced in artificial insemination (AI)

- Competent in foot trimming

- Good understanding of herd health and welfare

- Can work independently while being a reliable member of a small team

- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of animal care

The Package:

- Salary £40,000 per year DOE

- Accommodation provided

- Opportunity to work with a modern robotic milking system

- Stable position within a small, dedicated team

Candidate Requirements

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
