Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Nottingham Playhouse

Closing date: 23rd September (11.59pm)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a proactive, practical and reliable Facilities and Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team at

Nottingham Playhouse.

Reporting to the Facilities & Building Manager, you will play an important role in ensuring our Grade II* listed building is safe,

well maintained, compliant and welcoming for our staff, visitors, contractors and audiences.

You will undertake a range of planned and reactive maintenance, repairs and minor improvement works across the Playhouse, while

proactively identifying building defects, hazards and maintenance concerns. You will also support routine compliance checks,

planned preventative maintenance and the day-to-day operation of our building.

This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone with practical maintenance or facilities experience who enjoys working in

a busy, public-facing environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Your responsibilities will include:

* Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs and minor improvement works across the Playhouse.

* Conducting daily maintenance walkarounds and identifying defects, hazards and operational risks.

* Using Trello and other maintenance management systems to receive, update and close tasks.

* Supporting the planned preventative maintenance programme and routine compliance checks, including fire doors, sprinkler

systems and water hygiene.

* Maintaining the forecourt and external areas, including the water feature and Anish Kapoor’s Sky Mirror.

* Maintaining plant rooms, boiler room and basement storage areas in a safe and orderly condition.

* Assisting contractors on site, including coordinating access and supporting safe working arrangements.

* Using your practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing principles to identify and resolve maintenance issues.

* Supporting room setups, workshops, participation activities, events and hires.

* Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Playhouse, including Cleaning, Stage Door, Customer Experience and other

teams.

* Maintaining accurate records and communicating clearly about completed work, outstanding issues and emerging concerns.

* Working in accordance with our health and safety policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

* Supporting Nottingham Playhouse’s environmental sustainability commitments and responsible use of resources.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone with experience of practical maintenance, repairs or facilities work in a workplace, public building,

venue or similar environment.

You will ideally have:

* Experience undertaking planned and reactive maintenance safely and to a good standard.

* Practical knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic mechanical, electrical and plumbing principles.

* Good problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative when identifying or resolving maintenance issues.

* Confidence using tools, equipment and materials safely.

* The ability to prioritise tasks and respond positively to changing operational needs.

* Good communication skills and the ability to provide clear updates and maintain accurate records.

* An understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to maintenance work.

* The ability to use digital systems, email, radios or task management platforms.

* A proactive, reliable and practical approach, with good attention to detail.

* A positive, professional and collaborative working style.

* A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and to environmental sustainability.

A relevant trade, maintenance or facilities qualification, or equivalent practical experience, is required. We are also interested

in candidates with relevant additional training or experience in areas such as electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, water

hygiene, fire safety, COSHH or health and safety.

Experience in a theatre, arts venue, heritage or listed building, or public-facing environment would be desirable, but is not

essential.

You don't need to have every skill or experience listed. We are committed to developing and nurturing our employees, and will

support the successful candidate with training where required.
