Summary

· To provide day to day support of operational management of the service delivery under the guidance of the Decontamination Manager.

· To support the provision of the specialised decontamination service, contributing to the clinical care of the patient.

· To apply professional judgement and utilise specialist skills and detailed scientific knowledge when reviewing and interpreting scientific technical data and production reports to ensure a safe service is provided.

· To deputise for the Decontamination Manager when necessary.

· To record and manage staff absence/annual leave

· To assist and support with the decontamination duty rotas, ensuring adequate staffing provision on a day-to-day basis as part of the seven-day service.

· Assist and support in line managing Supervisors and support them in the supervision of the decontamination technicians.

· Support the Decontamination Manager in the following: recruitment, induction, appraisal, training and development

· To work as part of a team of decontamination personnel.

· To assist in collating endoscope activity/repair data / KPI’s.

· To attend all relevant meetings .

· To manage and train a team of staff as necessary including ongoing training updates and competency assessments of junior staff.

· Day to day assistance with management and the maintenance of all systems within the department.

· Able to work unsupervised in all areas of the speciality.

·To assist with planning and prioritise the workflow of the department ensuring the optimal usage of staff and equipment.

·To be technically responsible for the department through liaison with Decontamination Manager and manage decontamination team.

· To maintain and promote high standards of department safety ensuring the Health & Safety of self, other staff and visitors.

·To ensure the routine maintenance/operation of all equipment within speciality is undertaken.

·To assist with developing and review Standard Operating Procedures for the department including new equipment/ processes.

·To monitor stocks of consumables and chemicals and authorise their replenishment.

·To participate in routine work associated as required, according to service need.

·To ensure that departmental policies/procedures are adhered to by staff within the speciality.

· To troubleshoot/investigate issues that staff present/identify.

· To assist in the preparation of records stored in the department’s quality management system.

·To have a full range of IT skills (inc Microsoft Office) to meet the needs of the department and to collate/ present technical data for discussion.

·To comply with infection prevention and control policies, wear appropriate PPE.

What is a DBS Check?

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

Enhanced with BarredLists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
