We are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a 4-bed Ofsted-rated Good children's home in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
This could be an excellent opportunity if you are already working as a Senior Support Worker, or if you are an experienced Children's Residential Support Worker ready to take on more responsibility.
You'll be joining a large, established and growing children's residential care provider with excellent training, strong management support and a genuine progression pathway into Deputy Manager and Registered Manager positions.
What you need:
At least 12 months' experience working with children and young people
A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Caring for Children and Young People
Experience or knowledge of therapeutic, child-centred approaches
Confidence supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties
The ability to lead, support and guide other members of the residential team
Good written communication and record-keeping skills
The flexibility to work long-day shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
A full UK driving licence
The existing right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not available for this vacancy
The home:
You'll be working within a 4-bed children's residential home providing therapeutic support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The focus is on creating a safe, consistent and nurturing home where young people can build trust, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you'll have an important role both in directly supporting the young people and in helping the wider staff team deliver consistently high standards of care.
Your responsibilities will include:
Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
Supporting daily routines, education, activities and independence
Providing consistent boundaries and therapeutic support
Leading shifts and supporting less experienced members of the team
Contributing to care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
Maintaining accurate daily records and incident documentation
Supporting safeguarding and child protection procedures
Working closely with managers, social workers and other professionals
Helping create a safe, positive and homely environment
Why consider this opportunity?
If you're good at what you do but feel you've reached a ceiling with your current provider, this is worth a conversation.
This organisation is growing, invests heavily in training and development and offers a clear route for people who want to progress within children's residential care.
You don't need to be looking for a Registered Manager position tomorrow. You simply need to want somewhere that can give you the opportunity to develop when you're ready.
