Summary
A well-established childcare provider in Alfreton, Derbyshire is looking for a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join its team on a part-time basis.
If you understand how much learning can happen through play, and know how to create the right opportunities for it - this could be a brilliant next role.
Great early years practice isn't about filling every minute with an adult-led activity.
It's about creating an environment that makes children want to explore, investigate, communicate and try things for themselves.
You'll use your understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences while responding to the interests and individual needs of the children around you.
Your role will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging activities in line with the EYFS.
- Supporting learning through purposeful play and exploration.
- Leading small-group and individual activities.
- Encouraging children's communication and language development.
- Supporting early literacy and numeracy through everyday experiences.
- Creating opportunities for physical and sensory development.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and problem-solving.
- Supporting children's personal, social and emotional development.
- Making the most of outdoor learning and active play.
- Observing children and recognising opportunities to extend their learning.
- Adapting activities around different developmental stages and individual needs.
- Helping maintain a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment.
- Building positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
You've planned an activity.
Then somebody finds a worm outside.
Suddenly everyone wants to know where it lives, what it eats and why it wriggles.
Do you immediately bring everyone back to what you'd planned?
Or recognise that this is learning too?
We're looking for a practitioner who understands the EYFS but also has the confidence and creativity to respond to children in the moment.
Someone who can turn their questions, interests and discoveries into opportunities to learn.
You'll bring your own ideas to the setting while working collaboratively with experienced colleagues and contributing to a consistent approach across the team.
You'll need a recognised Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare or a relevant equivalent.
You'll also be someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys working with young children.
- Understands child development and the EYFS.
- Can plan purposeful, age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Recognises the importance of learning through play.
- Communicates warmly and professionally with children and families.
- Notices when a child might need a little more encouragement or support.
- Can adapt activities to individual interests and developmental needs.
- Works effectively as part of a team.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and creating a safe environment.
- Is enthusiastic about continuing to develop professionally.
Most importantly, you'll understand that every child develops differently - and that good early years practice starts with meeting the child where they are rather than where you expect them to be.
This part-time opportunity could be ideal if you want to continue doing work you enjoy while creating greater balance around your other commitments.
The role offers:
- £93-£100 per day.
- Part-time working.
- A supportive and collaborative early years environment.
- Opportunities to contribute your own ideas.
- Ongoing professional development.
- The chance to strengthen your practical EYFS experience.
- Meaningful involvement in children's learning and development.
The first time a child writes something recognisable as their name.
The first time they join another child's game.
The first time they manage something independently after weeks of saying, "I can't."
Early years education is full of moments that might look small from the outside.
You know how significant they really are.
If you're a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner looking for a part-time opportunity in Alfreton, we'd love to hear from you.
